Peer Review Process

PEER REVIEW PROCESS
Lentera Sosial: Jurnal Ilmu Sosial dan Humaniora

Every manuscript submitted to Lentera Sosial: Jurnal Ilmu Sosial dan Humaniora goes through a double-blind peer review: the reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. The whole process is managed through the Open Journal Systems (OJS), so authors can follow the status of their manuscript at any time.

Review Stages

1 Submission
The author submits the manuscript through OJS using the journal template. The manuscript file must not contain author names or affiliations; these are entered only in the submission metadata.
2 Initial editorial screening
The editor checks the manuscript's fit with the focus and scope, compliance with the template, completeness of the abstract and references, and similarity with Turnitin. Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20%, or that do not meet the basic requirements, are returned to the author or rejected without review.
3 Double-blind peer review
Manuscripts that pass screening are sent to at least two reviewers. Reviewers assess the originality and novelty of the research, the clarity of the research problem and objectives, the appropriateness of the method, the depth of analysis and discussion, the consistency between findings and conclusions, and the currency and relevance of the references.
4 Reviewer recommendation
Each reviewer recommends one of the following: Accept Submission, Revisions Required (minor revision), Resubmit for Review (major revision), or Decline Submission.
5 Revision by the author
The author revises the manuscript according to the reviewers' comments and submits the revised file together with a response table explaining how each comment was addressed. Manuscripts that require major revision may be sent back to the reviewers for a second round.
6 Editorial decision
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision to accept or reject the manuscript, based on the reviewers' recommendations and the quality of the revision. When reviewers disagree, the editor may invite an additional reviewer.
7 Copyediting, proofreading, and publication
Accepted manuscripts are copyedited and laid out according to the journal style. The author checks the galley proof before the article is published online with a DOI.
